Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola has insisted that Arsenal’s management and players “know” why two of his players fought with their set-piece coach, Nicolas Jover.

City defender, Kyle Walker after his team suffered a narrow defeat on Sunday clashed with Jover as he walked towards the tunnel, while his team-mate Erling Haaland also joined the melee.

The confrontation with the Gunners’ set-piece coach occurred after the Premier League champions suffered back-to-back league defeats for the first time in five years.

Prior to the clash, the largely disappointing game at the Emirates Stadium was settled four minutes from time after both sides looked certain to have to settle for a point.

Making his return from a hamstring injury as a substitute, Gabriel Martinelli’s 86th-minute strike which deflected off Nathan Aké’s face earned Arsenal their first league win over Man City since December 2015.

After the game, Jover, who was once of Manchester City before joining Mikel Arteta at Arsenal appeared to offer his hand to Walker, who refused to shake it before walking on.

However, the Three Lions defender later turned back to confront Jover before being pulled away by Haaland.

Addressing the incident after the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal, Guardiola said: “I know what happened, but I don’t want to say anything.

“They [Arsenal] know it.”

The Gunners after the win are now level with Tottenham Hotspur on 20 points, but Spurs have more goals and sit at the top of the Premier League table.

They next face in a derby against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge after the international break, while Man City will welcome 6th placed Brighton to the Etihad Stadium.
