Veteran Actor, Musiliu Ajikanle dies after battling stroke

Ajikanle was on the part of recovery after a cleric initiated  a fundraising campaign to support his treatment

Nollywood actor and popular movie producer, Musiliu Ajikanle has passed away. 

Ajikanle, who features more in Yoruba movies, died on Monday, July 31, after battling with stroke for seven years.

The news of his death was broken by fellow actor and filmmaker, Saliu Gbolagade on his Instagram page.

Sharing the picture of the deceased, the filmmaker wrote: “Ina Lilah Waina Allah Rajiun. God gave each of us the gift of life, and God gifted us with eternal life.

“Rest well, my dear friend Musiliu Ajikanle, your footsteps can never be filled, nor your love ever forgotten. May the blessings and peace of a good life lived follow you into heaven.”

Also mourning her colleague, popular Nollywood actress, Fathia Balogun took to the comment section of the social media post and wrote: “Allah.. May his soul rest in peace.. Sad”

Other thespians such as Ayo Mogaji, Sola Kosoko, and singer, Portable also eulogised him and sent their condolences. 

The late Ajikanle would be remembered by Yoruba movie lovers as the producer of the highly acclaimed film “Mufiu Olosha Oko,”

After he became bedridden, a Nigerian cleric, Gabriel Agbala, visited him at his residence in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital and the gesture seemed to mark a turning point in his recovery. 

The clergyman took the initiative to start a fundraising campaign to support Musiliu’s medical treatment and well-being. However, despite the efforts, Musiliu passed away yesterday.
