Ace Nollywood actress, Adesua Etomi has revealed that she didn’t want her husband, Bankole Wellington, better known as Banky W, to join politics initially, but had to support him to achieve his dreams.

She made this known recently during an interview with Hip TV, where she opened up that she was “worried” and “disturbed” when the singer first mooted the idea to her.

The mother of one went on to say she later had a change of mind and backed Banky W’s aspiration after she realised that “purpose is more important than fear.”

Speaking during the chat, Adesua said, “When Banky said that he wanted to go into politics, I was a little bit worried and disturbed about it.

“But I also believe that purpose is more important than fear. And I want to see him fulfil his purpose. So, he has my support 100 per cent.”

Banky W after joining partisan politics, announced his intention to run for the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat on the platform of the relatively unknown Modern Democratic Party (MDP) on November 11, 2018.

He went on to contest the federal legislative position on February 23, 2019, but lost the seat to Babajide Obanikoro of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Not deterred by his loss four years earlier, the ‘Ebute Metta’ crooner once again contested for the same seat in the 2023 general elections on the platform of the major opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He, however, ended up on the losing side once again, after he came second to the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Attah Thaddeus.
