The Maritime stakeholders especially the Customs beamed with smiles Sequel to the appointment of a career Custom officer as the Comptroller General of the agency. He is Adewale Adeniyi.
Adeniyi was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu after eight years that a career soldier, the retired Col.Hamid Ali was on the saddle as Customs helmsman.
Recall that President Ahmed Bola Tinubu on Monday approved the immediate retirement of all Service Chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police, Advisers, and Comptroller-General of Customs from Service as well as their replacements.
The President appointed Mallam Nuhu Ribadu National Security Adviser and Adewale Adeniyi MFR as the Customs Comptroller General of Customs.

Until his recent appointment, Adeniyi was the former spokesman of the Customs and was redeployed to the Apapa Area Command in 2017.
He was promoted to the rank of Comptroller in 2017 and appointed Deputy Commandant of the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada, Abuja.
In 2019, he was redeployed to serve as the Controller in charge of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Command, Lagos.
He was promoted to the rank of Assistant Comptroller General in February 2020 shortly after he supervised the seizure of $8.07 million cash being illegally taken out of Nigeria through the E-Wing of the international airport tarmac.
Owing to his worthy service to his Fatherland, President Buhari awarded him a national honour MFR on 11 October 2022 at the State House in Abuja.
