Microblogging App, Twitter, has stripped the immediate past Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, of his verification badge.
Twitter has a unique grey colour verification badge for government functionaries.
The microblogging App this morning removed the grey verification badge attached to Osinbajo’s account.

The grey verification badge which was removed from Osinbajo’s Twitter account was, however, not replaced with the blue verification tag which is granted to persons with more than one million followers or paid subscribers. Osinbajo has 4.2 million followers on Twitter.
Twitter, however, allowed the grey verification badge on the account of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, as at the time of writing this report.
Chances are that Buhari may also lose his grey verification tag since other former world leaders, like U.S Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, don’t have it. They also have the blue verification tag given to paid subscribers or persons with up to a million followers.
Osinbajo, born on March 8, served as the 14th vice president of Nigeria.
A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), he previously served as Attorney General of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007.
In April 2022, he announced his intention to run for the APC nomination for President of Nigeria in the 2023 presidential election. He was third in the APC presidential primaries held in June 2022 with a total of 235 votes. Tinubu won with 1271 delegate votes.
