Play as a team against Italy, Eletu warns Flying Eagles

Eletu, who plays for AC Milan, however, said the Flying Eagles have enough quality to beat the Italians if they play as a team

AC Milan youngster, Victor Eletu has said the Flying Eagles must play as a unit to defeat the Young Azzurri of Italy in their second group game at the ongoing 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Eletu made this known during an interview with NFF TV, where he warned his teammates that the Italians will be a tough nut to crack given the pedigree.

The Flying Eagles midfielder during the chat, however, posited that the Nigerian team have enough quality to beat the Europeans, who topped Group D after edging past Brazil in their first group match.

He further revealed that four of the Italian players are very experienced because they have already been capped by their respective clubs. 

Speaking on the encounter against Italy, Eletu said: “It will be a tough game (vs Italy) as three, four of their players have already played for their first-team clubs. 

“The only way we can beat them is to play as a team.

“We will give our best to qualify for the next round.”

The Flying Eagles are currently second in the group with three points and an inferior goal difference to table-topping Italians, after coming back from a goal down to defeat Dominican Republic 2-1 in their first fixture.
