Embattled Nollywood actor, Baba Ijesha loses dad

Baba Ijesha in July 2022, was sentenced to 16 years imprisonment for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old minor by an Ikeja Court

Nollywood actor, James Olanrewaju Omiyinka better known as Baba Ijesha, who was sentenced to 16 years imprisonment for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old minor by an Ikeja Special Offences Court in July 2022 is bereaved. 

Baba Ijesha, who is currently serving the jail term, recently lost his father, James Akin Omiyinka at the age of 95.

This was disclosed by fellow actor, Yomi Fabiyi, who made the announcement on Saturday on social media. 

Fabiyi, while sharing the information on his Instagram page, noted that the deceased lived a good life and prayed that his spirit will continue to guide his embattled son, Baba Ijesha.

He went on to offer prayers for those behind the actor’s ordeal and accused them of falsifying the age of the minor who he was accused of assaulting, so that he can end up in jail.  

He also consoled Baba Ijesha, saying he hopes the Judiciary will one day ensure justice is served, so that the thespian can be acquitted of the charges for which he was convicted.

Yomi wrote: “Accept my condolences BABA IJESHA on the death of your father. May the spirit of your father never depart you, he will fight for you someday. Baba lived a good life.

“I pray for the souls of all those who AMBUSHED YOU INTO THIS MISFORTUNE, and used your profession to lure you into acting with an opposite sex they invariably gave a “football age” so you can be sent to prison.

“We will continue to pray with you and hope that the integrity of the judiciary will be restored in this matter someday. Take heart senior man.”
