Henry had criticised his former team for the way they are handling their emotions towards the business end of the season, after dropping four points out of a possible 6 in their last two league fixtures against Liverpool and West Ham.

The former French international also said the Premier League leaders may lose the title to reigning champions, Manchester City if they fail to put their emotions in check

He said: “My problem with them is the emotions of the team.

“You can feel it, but don’t become it,”

Responding to the claims, Arteta, while speaking to the media on Thursday, disagreed with him. He, however, admitted that in order to be more ruthless it helps to take emotion out.

When asked if Henry’s comments were fair, Arteta replied: “I don’t know, it’s just an opinion.”

Arsenal can go seven points clear of Manchester City if they beat relegation-threatened Southampton at the Emirates Stadium on Friday night, although the champions will have two outstanding fixtures.

Meanwhile, the Citizens will not be in Premier League action until they face the Gunners next Wednesday, as they have an FA Cup semi-final commitment this weekend.
