Napoli captain, Giovanni Di Lorenzo has assured fans of Serie A leaders, that the absence of their talismanic striker, Victor Osimhen, will not stop the team from progressing into the Champions League semi-finals.
Luciano Spalletti’s men travel to the San Siro for the first leg of the UEFA elite competition against fellow Italian club, AC Milan on Wednesday night without their top scorer, Osimhen, who is currently injured.
The 24-year-old striker was sidelined after copping a muscle injury, while on international duty with Nigeria late last month.

High-flying Napoli were battered 4-0 by AC Milan in a league match in March while Osimhen was missing in action.
There are fears the Parthenopeans could suffer a similar fate this time, but Di Lorenzo has allayed such fears, saying his absence won’t affect the team.
“We know that Osimhen is a great player and he is very important for us, but we don’t depend only on one player. We have and have full confidence in the available players,” Di Lorenzo was quoted by Tutto Napoli.
“So we are calm from this point of view. I repeat, Osimhen is important for us, but he won’t be there in this match, and therefore, we will face them with the players we have.”
Osimhen has made five appearances for Napoli in the Champions League this season netting four goals in the process.
