Popular disc jockey, songwriter and singer, Obianuju Catherine Udeh, better known as DJ Switch, has expressed her disappointment over the treatment of Igbo in Lagos State during the gubernatorial and state House of Assembly elections.

During the Saturday election, there were reports that thugs were used to threaten, create fear and force residents to vote for a particular political party.

Electorates of Igbo extraction especially allegedly suffered attacks from political thugs while exercising their voting rights.

Prior to the election, a video clip where the Lagos State Parks Management Committee Chairman, Musiliu Akinsanya, a.k.a MC Oluomo threatened non-indigenes in Lagos made the rounds on social media.

Reacting to the development, DJ Switch wondered why among many other tribes resident in Lagos State, the Igbo were the ones singled out and subjected to rejection, abuse and threats.

She also called out the All Progressives Party (APC), the ruling party in the state and the police, who were part of the law enforcement agents during the election.

“I am really sorry to my Igbo brothers and sisters!” The Enugu-born DJ said.

“Truly. You are not the only tribe in the SW but how you’ve all been demonized is so heartbreaking

“APC is a shame Nigeria police shame, Nigeria is a shame. Shame… shame!

Stand strong everyone… stand strong,” DJ Switch added.

Meanwhile, former Nigerian minister, Oby Ezekwesili, has accused President-elect, Bola Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of instigating the attacks suffered by Igbo who are living in Lagos State during elections.

Speaking after the election via her Twitter account, she wrote: “Ndi Igbo did NOTHING to @officialABAT nor @jidesanwoolu but you orchestrated a rage against a people who have dwelt peaceably in Lagos ever before you both became politicians.”
