Football Pundit and former Arsenal midfielder, Paul Merson has scolded west London club, Chelsea over signing Chinonso Madueke, better known as Noni from PSV in the January transfer window.

According to the Arsenal legend, the 20-year-old is not better than the likes of Christian Pulisic and Raheem Sterling, who also play in his position.

Merson wondered why the club’s co-owner Todd Boehly and his recruitment team opted to waste money on players that are not better than those already in their ranks.

The former England international, while analysing some of Chelsea’s transfer business during the January window, questioned the signing of Noni.

“You can’t tell me that Noni Madueke is a better player than Raheem Sterling or Christian Pulisic. He’s not. Why are you buying a load of players that aren’t better than what you’ve got?” He said on Sky Sport.

Noni Madueke moved from Dutch club, Ajax, to Stamford Bridge in a deal worth around £29 million in January and has featured three times for Graham Potter’s side so far.
