Afenifere youth wing and the Coalition for a Better and Brighter Nigeria (CBBN) have  intensified grassroots mobilisation to ensure Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi coasts home to Aso Rock on 25 February.

Afenifere National Youth Council President Eniola Ojajuni told journalists the target is to get five million votes for Obi when he spoke on the sidelines of a training organised for Obi support groups which held at Ebomi Towers in Jos.

“Afenifere is here to partner with CBBN in terms of how to strategise in the forthcoming election for the victory of his excellency, Mr Peter Obi, who is the presidential candidate of the Labour Party,” Ojajuni said.

“Our target in Afenifere is to generate five million votes for him. We are doing this through voter education and reaching out to the people to see the need for a new Nigeria which everybody is clamouring for.”

Coalition group convener Isa El-Buba reiterated Nigeria has suffered for so long as a result of bad leadership.

The training brought participants from various states to help LP reach every electorate across the country.

Nigeria’s last chance to pull back from the brink

El-Buba warned the 2023 ballot is the last chance to save Nigeria and put it back on the path of progress and development, per The PUNCH.

In his view, Obi is the only candidate who has what it takes to redeem Nigeria and urged voters to elect him to enable him actualise his objectives for the country.

“Nigeria cannot afford to be under Tinubu or Atiku’s presidency because for the past 62 years we have not enjoyed good leadership. Nigeria is ready to put a stop to that,” El-Buba told the participants.

“No amount of their [Tinubu and Atiku’s] money will help them this time around  because Nigerians are wiser. Their mountains will crumble and the seed of Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate, will overtake them.

“It’s time to save Nigeria, it’s a fight to the finish. We must be brave to brace the forces.

“We must get the 40 million votes target to push the Labour Party presidential candidate to victory during forthcoming election.”
