The highly anticipated maiden edition of Africa’s topmost reality TV show, Big Brother Titans (BBTitans), commenced on Sunday, January 15 with 20 contestants.

The show’s opening ceremony was anchored by Big Brother Naija (BBnaija) host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, who shared the stage with his South African counterpart, Lawrence Maleka.

Unlike the BBNaija format which features only Nigerians, and Big Brother Africa (BBA), which has housemates from across the continent, BBTitans had only Nigerians and South African housemates.

The two countries were equally  represented and the first housemate to be unveiled was a 25-year-old South African female called Cossy, who described herself as a fun-loving, but also ‘serious’ person.

She was followed by a Nigerian, Yemi Cregx, who said he was looking forward to learning more about South Africans in the course of the show.

The duo wasted no time in striking up a conversation. At a point, Cregx helped Cossy to adjust her wig; an action that resonated on social media, with many people posting about it.

Another housemate, Khosi from South Africa said she is single as a pringle and ready to mingle, while 24-year-old Olivia from Nigeria, said her eyes are strictly on the money.

Other South African housemates are Juicy Jay, Nelisa, Mmeli, Ipeleng, Thabang, Yaya, Khehla, Tsatii, and Justin.

Nigerian 8 other contestants are Blaqboy, Nana, Marven, Jaypee, Ebubu, Jenni O, Kanaga, and Yvonne

Guests at the live screening of the show include Nigerian Idol winner, Gerald and BBnaija stars, Saga and Dorathy Bachor.

Self-acclaimed Koko master, D’banj also performed at the event.

The show, which promises to be the biggest takeover on African TV screens, will feature these selected housemates from Nigeria and South Africa in one house, with the 20 housemates playing to win the ultimate prize of $100,000.
