Hundreds of PDP, NNPP members defect to APC in Ondo community

Hundreds of decampees were welcomed today as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Continued its ward rally in Akoko North West Local Government.

The rally, which was held in Ogbagi Akoko Ward 6 today was well attended by members of the party, decampees from the PDP, NNPP and other fringe parties in the local government.

The decampees hinged their decisions on the good works of Hon Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the House of Representatives member representing Akoko North East/North West Federal Constituency in the area saying that his numerous projects in the area are enough to make the party attractive to anyone.

Speaking on behalf of the decampees, Hon Moses Sunday said: “We have seen the good works of BTO. We also want to be a partaker and a beneficiary of his good works.

“Beyond this, there is also the prospect of even a brighter future for the local government with the quality of aspirants the party will be parading in 2023. Jide Ipinshagba is a successful businessman and a proven leader of men.

“Hon. Taofeeq Muhammed will have a shot at the speakership position if returned for second term,” he concluded.

While welcoming the decampees, the local government party chairman, Kehinde Obanla congratulated them for “leaving the dark and coming to the light”.

In his words, “Here, we do not discriminate. We are all party members and we reward loyalty. We therefore congratulate you for leaving darkness and coming to light.

“As you can see, in Ogbagi Akoko alone, we can point to many projects and interventions. We will do more together.” Obanla noted.

Director General of the Presidential Campaign Council in Akoko North East/North West Federal Constituency, Rasheed Badmus appreciated the members for turning up in large numbers noting that it showed the opposition is dead in the local government.

The member representing Akoko North West Constituency II at the Ondo State House Assembly, Taofik Muhammed also corroborated Badmus’s position. He specifically promised to bring representation even more closer to the people.

In his closing remarks, Director of the Media and Publicity Directorate, Ifeoluwa Ehindero highlighted the works the APC has done in Ogbagi as a ward.

“Ogbagi will soon be linked directly to Arigidi Akoko as the APC led state government has started work on the road.

“Several water projects, blocks of classrooms, road networks and many more have been influenced in the ward by our super MHR, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. With APC at all levels, we are sure the ward we get more.” Ife said.

Also present at the rally were Legislative aide to Hon Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Apalowo Thalis; Bankole Muhammed; Other party leaders and executives.
