Argentina scored twice against Poland in the second half to complete a turnaround from the shock-opening World Cup loss to Saudi Arabia and qualified for the last 16 in impressive style.
They dominated the game throughout and Lionel Messi’s first-half penalty was saved by Poland keeper, Wojciech Szczesny, after a collision between the pair during an aerial challenge led to the award of the spot kick.
Argentina drew the first blood in the 46th minute when substitute Alexis Mac Allister scored with the right foot after receiving a pass from Nahuel Molina.
The South American side doubled their advantage in the 67th minute after Julian Alvarez scored with a fine finish into the top corner after Enzo Fernandez provided an assist for him.

Despite losing to Argentina, Poland qualified as the second team in Group C ahead of Mexico on goal difference, and will now face defending champions, France, in the rounds of 16.
Meanwhile, in Group D, Australia reached the knockout stage of the World Cup for the first time in 16 years after stunning Denmark.
The Danes, needing victory to progress, dominated possession but were caught out on the break when Australia scored the winner on the hour mark.
