Ubong King U-15 Boys & Girls Memorial Cup hots up in Lagos

Mrs Ubong King: “I am glad that my husband’s dreams and legacies are still alive and active both in the company and in the lives of talents being discovered through these competitions.”

The 2nd Edition of Ubong King memorial U-15 Boys and Girls Cup kicks off on December 26, 2022, at the Legacy Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

The grassroots Soccer competition is in memory of the Late Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the security company, Protection Plus Services Ltd.

According to the organisers, Grassroots Soccer Association of Lagos State, the competition kicked off with 36 boys teams and 16 teams in the female category which is ongoing with preliminary matches across designated venues in Lagos State.

In a chat with Journalists, the Chairman of the company Dr. Mrs. Unyime-Ivy Ubong King praised the courage and zeal of her late husband in carrying out the sponsorship of the grassroots Competition while alive and pledged to continue his legacy.

Ubong King she said, is still alive and continued to impact people, especially the youth population.

Mrs Ubong King insisted that her husband chose to give life to the less privileged, a life he never had as a struggling youth in his youthful days in Lagos.

“I am glad that his dreams and legacy are still alive and active both in the company and the lives of talents being discovered through these competitions.”

Dr. Mrs Ubong King announced cash prizes for winners, runner-up, and third place and fourth-placed teams in the boy’s categories. (N250.000, N200.000, N150,000, N100,000.)

While the girl’s categories had only two cash rewards for winners and second-placed teams.
(N150,000, N100.000).

She also noted that more incentives would be added to the competitions but pleaded for patience, insisting that though the economy is generally bad, notwithstanding, the company would continue to forge ahead to impact positively on the lives of talented youths concerned.

She called on friends and well-wishers for Ubong King’s dreams to come and assist in Keeping his dreams alive through donations in any aspect of the competition they may choose. “My husband is not dead, he is alive that’s the way we see him here.”

She thanked the organisers of the competition and Protection Plus Services Staff for their unalloyed support and dedication to the ideals of the competition.

While describing the date of the grand finale of the competition as a special, she opined that it was the day her husband passed on December 26, 2020.
