Osuntokun, Edwin Clark, Ayo Adebanjo, Kukah, others for public lecture on nationalism Nov 21

The guests of honour at the lecture will be former governor of Anambra State, Chukwuemeka Ezeife; former Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Simon Okeke; elder statesman and renowned dental surgeon, Sylvan Ebigwei; and Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah.

Renowned historian, Prof Jide Osuntokun, will on Monday, November 21 deliver a lecture on “Nationalism and Nation Building in Nigerian History”.

Information on the invite sent to TheNiche indicated that the lecture billed to be chaired by the first Military Governor of Anambra State, Gen Atom Kpera; and moderated by Dr Okey Anueyiagu, will hold at 10 am at the Nigeria Institute of International Affairs, Kofo Abayomi Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Discussants at the lecture, which will be hosted by the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Prof George Obiozor; include lawyer and former President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, John Nwodo; spokesperson of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), Hakeem Baba Ahmed; and the National President of the Middle-Belt Forum, Bitrus Pogu.

Among the special guests of honour is the famous Ijaw leader, Edwin Clark; de facto Vice President of Nigeria under the military head of state General Ibrahim Babangida, Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe (retd); founder of Diamond Bank and the chairman of Pan-Atlantic University, Pascal Dozie; leader of Yoruba socio-cultural organisation Afenifere, Ayo Adebanjo; Rear Admiral Alison Madueke (retd), politician and founding member of Arewa Consultative Forum, Tanko Yakassai; and former governor of Imo State, Gen Ike Nwachukwu (retd).

Fathers of the day include Eze Ogbunechendo of Ezema Olo, Eze Loc Agubuzu; and the Obi of Obinugwu, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya; while the mother of the day will be the widow of former President of Nigeria Nnamdi Azikiwe, Prof Uche Azikiwe.
