ATCIS also called on the Senate and the House of Representatives to make a legislation mandating cable television operators on pay per view

National president of Association of Telephone, Cable TV and Internet Subscribers of Nigeria, (ATCIS), Hon. Prince Sina Bilesanmi aka Ojueko, wants the federal government through the Senate and House of Representatives to make Pay Per view compulsory law in Nigeria for cable users.
ATCIS president who made this known to newsmen at the one day conference and award ceremony of Celebrity Crush TV with the theme: the Power of Social Media’ at the weekend in Lagos said he wants the Federal Government to effect what they requested for in March last year during the World Consumers Day that ‘Pay Per View must stand in Nigeria.
According to him, the hardship in the country is too much for a company to come and add to it by increasing their tariff to 65% for it’s users in the country.
“The hardship in the country is too much. If the wife of the president recognises that, why will a company make more hardship on the people.”

Adding he said: ” I am using this opportunity to challenge the Senate and the House of Representatives to make what we requested last year at the World Customers s Day that pay per view must stand a reality.”
Ojueko as he is popularly called, expressed displeasure over the unfair treatment by the Multi-Choice company to its members that is the subscribers in Nigeria, saying that in South Africa where MultiChoice comes from, they offer their citizens a free view on weekends. “This is the reason why we are demanding for Pay Per View so that our users can be at a comfort zone,” he said.
“We all know that light is not stable here. And nobody spends 24 hours at home. So, let it count as you use so that even when you travel it will start counting as you on it,” he added.
He disclosed that presently, his members are going through challenges in the process of subscription that it does not reffect when they pay.
With this unfair treatment, he said his union is giving room for any Local Cable Operator that shares the same belief with them on pay per view to come and identify with them for their full support so that Nigeria can forget about Multi Choice and the rest of them.
Bilesanmi said he will be on air today to talk about the same issue on Star FM to see if Multi-Choice will revert it.
He said he has previously talked about it on air too at their Wednesday program with Star FM to see if they can reverse the tariff of 65% but they did not.
