Teni stepped up to the podium and collected her award, but refused to shake the hands of Nigeria’s number-one citizen

A viral video making the rounds on social media revealed the moment popular singer, Teniola Apata better known as Teni, avoided shaking the hands of President Muhammadu Buhari after receiving national honour.
The event which took place at International Conference Centre in Abuja on Tuesday, October 11, saw her and other prominent Nigerians conferred with national honours by the President.
The video from the award ceremony showed when Teni, who donned a suit, was called upon to receive her award, after being conferred with the Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) award.

The singer stepped up to the podium and collected her award, but unlike the rest of the awardees who shook the hand of Nigeria’s number one citizen, she walked away.
After the video surfaced on social media, Nigerians took to the comment section to air their views, while some slammed the singer for disrespecting the president.
However, other netizens believed it was her way of expressing displeasure with the way he has governed the country.
A netizen identified as raphweal wrote, “The babe dey give Buhari serious attitude.”
Another IG user, boi_vicx said, “She’s not happy with the president normally dem suppose shake after she collect the award but aunty just pass jeje dey go na only God know wetin she dey talk for mind .”
Oluetson_pow added, “See comments from supposed educate people, if nah attitude unah dey praise, then she no suppose show up at all. .”
Another internet user, djkholow_official said, “Why she strong face for president no handshake sef.”
While iam_mcculture wrote, “Makanaki said a thousand words with her unspoken altitude.”
Apart from Teni, other notable Nigerians in the MON category are 2Baba, Shehu Othman, and Abubakar Maikano.
