Former Fulham player, Danny Murphy has said Arsenal does not have what it takes to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title despite their brilliant start to the season.

Arteta and his men are currently top of the league after winning eight out of nine league matches they have played so far this season and a lot of pundits are tipping them to give City a run for their money.

Murphy, however, doesn’t think so, saying despite the current position of the Gunners in the league, they are unlikely to challenge the Citizens.

He noted that Arsenal does not have the strength in depth of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, who are second in the table.

“It looks like at the moment [they are Manchester City’s main rivals for the Premier League title],” Danny Murphy said on Sky Sports.

“I don’t see them seriously challenging. The main reason is simply because they can’t keep their best XI fit all season.

“City don’t have to, because they have that much quality. If two or three Arsenal players come out of the side, they don’t have the same strength,” he added.
