Former PDP national chairman, Vincent Ogbulafor, dies at 73

Ogbulafor became PDP national chairman on March 8, 2008, and was succeeded as national chairman by the former governor of Enugu State, Okwesilieze Nwodo.

Former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Vincent Ogbulafor, has died in Canada.

A top official of Abia State Government who did not want name mentioned spoke with The PUNCH, on Saturday morning about the incident. Asked to confirmed it, the source said, “Yes, he’s dead. He died in Canada.”

Ogbulafor became PDP national chairman on March 8, 2008, and was succeeded as national chairman by the former governor of Enugu State, Okwesilieze Nwodo.

Vincent Ogbulafor

Ogbulafor became national chairman of the PDP after Umaru Yar’ Adua won the 2007 Presidential election.

He was the first PDP’s national secretary before becoming national chairman.

He was born on May 24, 1949, in Olokoro, Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State. He died aged 73.

While he was alive, Ogbulafor was quoted as saying that he did not give a hoot if Nigeria became a one-party state. He also boasted that the PDP would govern Nigeria for at least 60 years. That dream was, however, aborted when the party lost power in 2015 to the All Progressives Congress.
