Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso was booed and pelted on Wednesday while on a visit to Kogi State.

The former governor of Kano State visited Lokoja, capital of Kogi to inaugurate the party’s secretariat and his campaign offices.

Some persons began throwing sachets of water at him when he got to a hotel where he was supposed to address his supporters.

Kwankwaso had earlier visited Ogbonicha, the country home of the late ex-governor of Kogi, Abubakar Audu, where a similar scenario played out.

He was accused of trying to hide under the canopy of the late ex-governor to woo supporters of the All Progressives Congress.

Some reports say Kwankwaso was attacked by some NNPP members in Kogi who felt the presidential candidate gave prominence to the late Audu’s loyalists who recently defected to the NNPP in Kogi.

Some of the members who spoke to journalists, lamented that having waited since the early hours in Lokoja, Kwankwaso abandoned them for Audu’s loyalists whom they claimed are still members of the ruling APC.

A media aide of the presidential candidate, who identified himself as Musa Yunusa, described the action of the supporters as normal in politics, describing Kogi as home to Kwankwaso.
