The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has criticised Professor Onyeka Nwelue, one of the organisers of the 2022 James Currey Literary award at the Oxford University, London, for inviting Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, to the event.
According to the Director of Media and Publicity of the IPOB, Emma Powerful in a statement on Tuesday, Nwelue should not claim ignorance over the alleged injustices meted out towards the people of Imo State.
The IPOB noted that inviting Uzodimma for an event billed to be graced by the likes of Professor Wole Soyinka was demeaning of the yearly ceremony.

The statement noted that Uzodimma’s invitation “is not only shameful but a spite on the grave of the foremost Biafra heroic writer Professor Chinua Achebe who was an associate of Professor James Currey in whose honour the event is being held.”
Warning the professor, IPOB said, “Acclaimed Prof. Nwelue should be guided so that IPOB will not cook food for him that he can’t finish. If he still cherishes his Igbo ancestry, he should listen to these words of advice and reason.”
