Nigerian activist, businesswoman, and co-founder of the BringBackOurGirls movement, Aisha Yesufu has said Nigerians will not be voting for the flag bearer of the  Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi in the 2023 general election because he is an Igbo man or a Christian but because of his capacity to govern.

Yesufu made the assertion in a now-viral video on the microblogging platform, Twitter, where she argued Obi’s movement is not about showmanship but an avenue for changing the economic downtown and security challenges that have bewildered Nigerians.

Backing the LP candidate to become the next president of Nigeria, the Human Rights Activist said competence, character and capacity, and courage stand him out among the leading aspirants participating in the next year’s presidential election.

She concluded by saying voting for Obi transcends where he comes from and what religion he practices, rather, it’s an opportunity for Nigerians to vote for a candidate that will be accountable to them.

Aisha Yesufu said: “I just want you to know that if you’re thinking of Peter Obi. We are talking of competence. This is not about Igbo, or about Christianity. This is about competence, character and capacity, and courage. And of course criticism. It is about being able to make demands and be able to criticize and be able to hold whoever is in the office accountable.
