Killer herders murder 5 in Benue

Anter residents gave the names of the victims to include Ave Usaar, Temanenge Kyer, Kpungu Orbakpa, Aondoakura Akume and Terkimbir Orbakpa.

Killer herders, otherwise called bandits, have murdered five people during an attack on Anter community of Mbalagh Council Ward in Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State.

According to a report by Daily Trust, the villagers of Anter said the incident happened on Tuesday evening.

According to Anter residents, the names of the victims include Ave Usaar, Temanenge Kyer, Kpungu Orbakpa, Aondoakura Akume and Terkimbir Orbakpa.

The newspaper reported that the bodies of the first three victims have been found and buried while the search to recover the remains of the remaining two was ongoing at the time of filing the report.

The report disclosed that the Special Adviser to the Benue State Governor on Security Matters, Lt. Col. Paul Hemba (retd), said he had only received the reports of two persons killed in the community on Tuesday by armed herders.

In a telephone conversation with correspondent of Daily Trust, Hemba said he was not yet aware of the killing of three other victims in Anter Village.
