How NDLEA nabbed wanted terror suspect in Abuja

NDLEA nabbed the fleeing terror suspect, Suleiman Sidi, in the early hours of Monday, at Area 1 motor park, Abuja, with drug

Bare a week after terrorists invaded Kuje Medium Security Correctional Centre, Abuja and freed some of their members, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA), have arrested one of the wanted terror suspects who escaped from the facility.

The fleeing terror suspect, Suleiman Sidi, was arrested in the early hours of Monday, July 11, at Area 1 motor park, in the Federal Capital Territory while attempting to board a commercial vehicle to Maiduguri, Borno state. When he was searched, three wraps of cannabis sativa were found on him.

During preliminary interview, the wanted terror suspect confirmed he was remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre for terrorism and robbery charges, adding that he was indeed one of the inmates who escaped from the facility last Tuesday.

Scores of terrorists had on Tuesday, July 5, launched a daring attack on Kuje prisons, bombing their way in and freeing 879 inmates, among whom were at least 64 who terror-related charges on their necks.

Following the attack, President Muhammadu Buhari had, on Wednesday, the next day, visited the Custodial Centre, where he expressed disappointment with the nation’s intelligence system.

After inspecting some of the points impacted by the attack, Buhari expressed disappointment with the intelligence system and utilization.

He said: “I am disappointed with the intelligence system. How can terrorists organize, have weapons, attack a security installation and get away with it?”

Flowing from the President’s expression of disappointment, the Federal Government has declared wanted, 33 of the inmates who escaped from its Kuje Prison.

While commending the officers and men of the FCT Command of the Agency for the arrest and their vigilance, Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) has directed that the wanted suspect should be immediately handed over to the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCoS.
