A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Daniel Bwala, has resigned his membership of the party over the choice of former Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima.

Shettima is a Muslim just like Tinubu, which makes the presidential ticket of the APC a Muslim-Muslim.

Bwala in a tweet said: “Tonight I officially resigned my membership of @OfficialAPCN  on principles and conviction that I hold so dear. At this time of our national existence, our efforts and energy  should gravitate towards uniting our people.”

According to Bwala, the resort to a Muslim-Muslim ticket by the APC shows a lack of principle which he said a political party should be built upon.

Bwala, quoting a former U.S President, Dwight Elsenhower, said a political party that is not founded on any principle is just a vehicle of convenience for the capturing of political power.

Bwala said he dumped the APC because of its Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket which goes against his principle that unity of the country should supercede any other consideration.

According to Bwala, it is not true that Muslims in the North would not vote for Tinubu if he chose a Christian as running mate. He said that is a myth created by the political class in the North. He cited the example of the north voting Goodluck Jonathan over Muhammadu Buhari in 2011 as indication that Muslims in the North do not vote base on religious consideration.
