Tank Farm owners set to suspend loading of Products over price differencials

Tank farm operators within the Ijegu-Egba axis of Lagos State have shut down loading of petroleum products, directing all tank farm owners to halt operations over the N1 per litre charge demanded by Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD).

Secretary of the tank farm operators, Eshiet E. Eshiet in a statement on Wednesday, explained that the proactive step was a sequel to a meeting of major marketers and their resolutions that operators will not pay the N1 per litre charge demanded by PTD, taking into consideration the present economic conditions.

The Secretary maintained that tank farm operators will continue to work assiduously to protect its members in collective businesses and not otherwise”.
He advised all depots to shut down operations and not load any products until the lingering controversy is resolved.

Eshiet called on all tank farm operators to direct their Depot Managers to shut down operations from today Wednesday, 6th July 2022 as a proactive action.

The statement added: “URGENT ADVISORY TO SHUT DOWNLOADING OF PRODUCTS

“Dear Owners/CEOs, following meeting of major marketers and their resolutions that marketers will not pay the N1 per litre charge demanded by PTD, taking into consideration the present economic conditions;

“And considering the fact that PTD is adamant, and insists on collecting N1 per litre of the product; I have been directed to advise all depots to shut down operations and not load any products until the lingering controversy is resolved.

“All Owners/CEOs should please direct their Depot Managers to shut down operations from today Wednesday, 6th July 2022 as a proactive action.

“All Owners/CEOs are also urged to kindly attend our Zoom Meeting today, Wednesday, July 6, 2022, by 12 noon to articulate our common positions accordingly.

“Furthermore, the earlier memo that directed taking stock of products is hereby withdrawn forthwith. We shall continue to work assiduously to protect our members’ collective.”
