According to Telegraph, the Chelsea tactician has told the new owners that they must invest heavily during this summer’s transfer if they are to compete against Liverpool and Manchester City next season.

Boehly is willing to back the German with around £200m ahead of the 2022-23 season – though some of that budget will come from player sales.

While defence remains an area of priority for Tuchel, following the refusal of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger to renew their contracts,  the 48-year-old coach is very keen to improve his attacking options too.

And the reports from England say that Tuchel has identified City winger Sterling as one of the players he intends to add to his attacking options.

The 27-year-old England international has one year left on his contract and has previously hinted that he could leave the club, having been a peripheral figure in the first half of the season.
