Three months after his appointment, Heartland Head Coach, Onuh is still struggling to lift the club out of the relegation zone, with eye on victory against Rivers
Heartland on MatchDay 27 made the short trip to Awka for the fixture against Oriental neighbours, Rangers but suffered their 13th defeat of the campaign leaving the club head coach, Erasmus Onuh Olottah a dejected figure who blamed inexperience on the part of the players for the defeat.
The Coach joined Heartland in February as replacement for Hassan Abd’Allah to help steer the club out of the lower side of the log after losing seven games from the opening 10 of the season including a 3-0 collapse to Enugu Rangers in Owerri.
About three months down the line, Onuh is still struggling to lift the club out of the relegation zone after 17 games under his watch with five wins, six draws and six defeats.

Reviewing the match in Awka, Onuh told www.npfl.ng that he and his players have little to complain about the derby loss to Enugu Rangers but would rather hail the performance of their opponents that he agreed were the better side.
He also laud Heartland players’ doggedness and dedication throughout the game despite not possessing the same caliber of players as Rangers. He pointed to some internal administrative deficiencies that he believed affected the players.
“They have more experienced players than us. We do not have any reason to complain at all because they played better. We also made an impact which I believe you can all attest to,” Onuh told www.npfl.ng.
“Since I arrived here, we have tried to get out of the relegation zone a couple of times but without the logistics, things won’t go the way they ought to go. We can move mountains when the logistics are there but if it is not there, we can only struggle the way we were at present.”
Onuh, who has worked with a number of clubs in the league including Niger Tornadoes, said he was already focusing on their next game in Owerri against Rivers United which he insisted that Heartland must strive to pick the three points to boost their continued chase for survival.
Still on the defeat to Rangers, he said, “We lost because Enugu Rangers were more experienced but we must work on ensuring that the next game with Rivers United is prepared for very well and all logistics put in place. We cannot afford to lose any more home games but all must play their part to make things work as expected.”
“I was expecting a different result before the start of the game but in the course of the game, so many things happened. It wasn’t as if they outplayed us. They equalised and got another before the disputed third goal”.
