Ekong in his bid to show he was brought up in the Nigerian way also captioned the throwback photos  ‘Naija Boy’.

He was eligible to play for both the Netherlands and Nigeria but opted to represent the country of his father rather than that of his mother.

Ekong who has not had many games for Watford since the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon, is currently the vice-captain of the Nigeria national team.

He is expected to return to action for the Super Eagles when they take on the El Tri of Mexico in an international friendly game at the AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas on Saturday, May 28.

On Thursday, June 2, he is also expected to be among the Super Eagles who will then take on Ecuador in another friendly scheduled to take place in New Jersey, United States of America.

Members of the online community took to several social media platforms to praise Ekong’s father for impacting the African culture in his son despite having a European mum.
