The grouo lamented that it was very unfortunate that President Muhammadu Buhari and All Progressives Congress (APC) administration had ruined Nigeria’s economy as frustration and discontent are all written on the faces of Nigerians.

According to the group, Nigerians are in tears over bad leadership and need a person like Bukola Saraki who has knowledge of the world economics and politics for quick and effective transformation of the country.

It stated: “At the close of our last plenary meeting where the review of the excruciating hardships and sufferings being meted out on Nigerians by a failed APC government constitutes the pivotal point of discussion, the decision that APC must be stopped and removed from the governance in the federal level at the next elections to avert a complete and ultimate collapse of Nigeria as a nation, was unanimous as a necessary task before the group, which should be very well be concerning to any well meaning Nigerians.”

The statement expressed concern that the Nigerian state under the APC underperforms due to lack of capacity to deal with the contemporary complexities of governance saying that its Governance style and political leadership largely driven by self-interest and primordial considerations, take priority over that of it citizenry which have led to the he party (APC) and Buhari demonstrably failure, which can be defined in three critical ways: security of lives and properties; promotion of the rule of law; and provision of visionary leadership.

Without doubt, it said, Nigeria, due to APC horrendous and ineffective governance, the populace is witnessing a continuing and needless institutional degeneration to the point where the country has been unable to provide basic welfare and minimal social security for its teeming vulnerable population.

“We know that there are many aspirants from the major opposition party in the country that have shown interest in grabbing the presidential ticket of the party, but the Saraki, the two-term Kwara State governor is the best of all the aspirants.

“The group’s choice of Bukola Saraki was precipitated on four pivotal strengths, which includes his strength in business environments as a successful private entrepreneur and investor, will prove to be a viable asset in also managing the nation’s deplorable economy – effectively, as a president.

“Secondly his strength as a two-term Executive Governor of Kwara State where Saraki led aggressive reforms in agriculture, infrastructure, health, education, power generation and environment policy.

“Under Saraki, Kwara became a pilot state to complete the Nigeria Independent Power Project. He re-energised the Ganmo Power Station at Ilorin, and connected over 3750 rural communities to the national grid with installation of over 725 transformers and 7 substations. Kwara also completed 4 electrification projects which meant power became stable 18–22 hours a day. 90% of people living in Kwara have access to electricity, compared to a national average in Nigeria of 30%.

His experience and records will prove to be a potent asset; providing him with a superb understanding of how the executive branch of government should be run.

“Thirdly, his position at the upper legislative chambers where he served in two meritoriously positions was an enviable strength which will be hard to be easily matched. First, as a senator; second, as the President of the senate. For instance, during his presidency, the Senate under his leadership has surpassed all previous Senate’s in Nigeria’s history, passing 201 bills and clearing 138 public petitions” it noted.

The group believed that if Saraki is given the opportunity to run and become the president, his experience at the upper legislative chambers will certainly give him a unique leverage over others in running and managing the relationship between the executive and the legislative branches in an effective manner, without compromising their independence.
