Less than 24 hours after Vice President Yemi Osinbajo met governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to announce his presidential bid, former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has also met the governors in what appears to be a catch-up game.
In the meeting with governors, Osinbajo had announced to them that he would be seeking the presidential ticket of the APC on the ground that his political journey so far was a preparation for a higher responsibility, which is to offer selfless service to Nigeria at the highest level.

TheNiche had reported that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC has tentatively set May 30th for the party’s presidential primary, about six weeks from now, although subject to the approval of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).
By INEC’s schedule of activities for the 2023 election, June 4 is the last date for political parties to conclude their primaries.
The major contenders for the APC presidential ticket include; Tinubu, Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi, Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi and the new entrant to the race, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo whom many analysts say presents the major threat to Tinubu’s 2023 presidential ambition.
Among the APC governors present at the meeting with Tinubu include; Plateau Governor Solomon Lalong who was at Amaechi’s declaration and pledged his support for the transport minister, Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai, who has been scheming to be a vice-presidential candidate, Kebbi State Governor, Atiku Bagudu, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni and many others. These governors were also present at the meeting with Yemi State Osinbajo.
The meeting is currently ongoing, according to Tinubu’s media aide, Tunde Rahman who tweeted about the meeting a few hours ago.
