Some youths from Abia North senatorial zone yesterday condemned what they described as naked intimidation against those opposed to the self succession agenda of Ngwa people.

They expressed fear that using Government machinery and brute force against those who don’t believe in the plan of the governor and PDP for another Ngwa man to succeed Ikpeazu will ignite fire in the state.

In a statement issued in Umuahia, Abia Youth Vanguard under the chairmanship of Comrade David Onwuneme regretted the recent verbal attack by some Ngwa elements against an elder statesman,Chief Charles Ogbonnaya” for merely expressing his preference that power should rotate to Abia North in 2023″.

According to them, the vehemence and savagery use of words against the PDP chieftain suggest that Abia is now on the verge of authoritarian rule.

” This to us is a dangerous signal that the people of Isiala Ngwa should gather to tear Evulogu apart for expressing his opinion on the politics of the state. This muscling of opposition will plunge this state to anarchy”, the youth warned.

They noted that it was within the right of Chief Charles Ogbonnaya not to support the self succession agenda of the Ngwa people.

They further argued that majority of Abia Youth want power to rotate to Abia North since all the zones have held the Governorship for eight years each.

They said both the Constitution of Nigeria and elders of the state recognize Abia of being composed of three zones and not the two zones being bandied by Ngwa people.

“From 1999 to date, power has been going round three zones and not on the basis of old Aba and Bende divisions.”

They warned those who want to scuttle the Abia charter of Equity to beware of the consequences of their actions and stop the attacks on those opposed to their self succession agenda.

“If they want peace, let them return power to Abia North in 2023, otherwise their conscience will continue to haunt them since they know that what they are doing is evil”
