Hanifa’s killer remanded in prison, court adjourns hearing

The Police in Kano arraigned Abdulmalik Tanko, the killer of Hanifa Abubakar, the five-year-old girl abducted and killed by her school proprietor.

Also arraigned with Abdulmalik Tanko are Hashim Issyaku and Fatima Musa. They were arraigned before the Chief Magistrate Mahmud Jibril, at Gidan Murtala, Kano metropolis, on charges of criminal conspiracy, Kidnapping, concealing / Keeping in confinement a Kidnapped Person and culpable homicide, contrary to section 97,274, 277, 221 of the penal code.

Hanifa Abubakar was abducted on December 4th, 2021 on her way back from Islamiyya (Quranic school) by the proprietor of her school, Noble Kids Nursery School.

Kano state attorney general and commissioner for Justice Musa Lawan pleaded with the court to grant them seven days for the counsels to properly prepare the charges and also requested that the accused be remanded in Kano State Correctional Centre.

The case was adjourned to February 2, 2022.

Meanwhile, the uncle of the deceased Hanifa has said that the killer-proprietor, Abdulmalik Mohammed Tanko, visited the parents of Hanifa after she went missing in December.

According to the family member, in a report published by the Daily Nigerian, the uncle, Suraj Sulaiman, disclosed that Tanko shed tears when he visited the parents to console them.

The uncle said the proprietor was full of tears when he visited the family of Hanifa to console them over the abduction, even when he was the abductor who demanded N6 million ransom, poisoned her afterwards and dismembered her body.

According to the report, when Hanifa’s mother saw Tanko at the police headquarters, she charged at him, asking why he did such to her family
