Tottenham Hotspurs rallied from a goal down in injury time to snatch an incredible victory over Leicester after two dramatic goals from substitute Steven Bergwijn.

The Foxes were without top scorer Jamie Vardy who is dealing with a thigh injury, while Kelechi Iheanacho is on international duty with Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Antonio Conte was moments away from experiencing his first Premier League defeat before Bergwijn grabbed a 95th minute equaliser from Matt Doherty’s pass.

The Dutchman who came in as a substitute then went on to add the winner in the 97th minute after he received a defence splitting pass from Harry Kane.

He then took the ball around goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel with his shot going in off the post into the net, thereby winning the dramatic encounter 3-2 in for Spurs.

Leicester had taken the lead against the run of play in the 24th minute with Patson Daka’s clinical finish over French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris with the hosts’ first shot on target.

But Harry Kane, who had earlier missed a couple of chances, equalised just before half-time, collecting Harry Winks’ ball forward, cutting inside Caglar Soyuncu, and side-footing past Schmeichel.

James Maddison then put Leicester ahead once again in the 76th minute after he dispatched a pass from Harvey Barnes and the hosts thought they had clinched the three points before Bergwijn’s dramatic double.

Spurs’ win takes them above north London rivals Arsenal and up to fifth in the Premier League behind another London club, West Ham, who have played three games more, while Leicester are 10th in the table.
