IPOB says only native cows will be used for such events

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Monday said cows reared by Fulani herdsmen would no longer be used for any social event in the Southeast.

The group stated this in a New Year address by its Head of Directorate Mazi Chika Edoziem through its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful.

The ban, IPOB said, would take effect from April.

IPOB had promised on Monday, December 27, 2021, to address Biafrans on January 1.

In a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, the group said: “We wish to announce to the people of Biafra both home and in the diaspora, friends of Biafra and lovers of freedom that the able Head of Directorate of State of the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, Mazi Chika Edoziem, will address Biafrans on Radio Biafra on Saturday 1st of January 2022.

“He will highlight the achievements IPOB has recorded this year, and hint on the roadmaps to our liberation.

“He will also address some pertinent issues pertaining to our struggle for independence.

“IPOB has gone beyond human destruction and it will remain so till Biafra freedom is fully achieved.

“There is no retreat until Biafra sovereignty is fully restored.

“The broadcast will be simultaneously relayed live through our many channels including IPOB community radio, tuning, radio Biafra FM, Facebook, satellite and others.

“We, therefore, urge everybody to hook on and listen in during the broadcast.”

It is not clear whether the broadcast took place.

But Emma Powerful said on Monday that only native cows would be allowed in the region for any social event henceforth.

It urged traditional rulers, the clergy and town unions to ensure the message reaches the grassroots.

The group said: “The ban placed on Fulani cows will take effect in April 2022.

“Effective that month, Fulani cows will not be used for any social or ceremonial events and festival in Biafraland.

“Our native cows will be used instead for these events.

“Traditional custodians of our culture, the clergy and town unions must ensure that this message gets to the grassroots.”
