A socio-political development group, Diamond Group Nigeria felicitated with Nigerians on the occasion of the new year and set agenda for FG

Diamond Group Nigeria (DGN), a socio-political development group with Nigeria as its central focus, has felicitated Nigerians on the occasion of the new year, while also setting a 5 point agenda for the Federal government (FG).
The group in a statement signed by Toyyib Musa-Omoloja and made available to TheNiche Newspaper on Friday noted that the year 2021 and the preceding one have been quite challenging for Nigerians and the entire world.
The organisation in the press release acknowledged the efforts of the FG in tackling the economic fallout of Covid-19 and its quest to set Nigeria on the part of development.
It, however, advised the FG to implement the 2022 budget judiciously and tackle single digit inflation and interest rates, it also suggested that the government must reduce excessive borrowing.

The group added that President Mohammadu Buhari must ensure issues of people oriented electoral reforms, keeping the fuel subsidy, and tackling insecurity are his major focus.
The state reads: “Diamond Group Nigeria (DGN) felicitates Nigerians as we usher in the brand new year 2022.
“The outgone year and the one that preceded it has been quite testing for Nigerians and people generally all over the world. The Covid-19 pandemic wrought incalculable damage on the global economy, and caused monumental dislocations in their social life, the general manner of interactions, and day to day living.
“Nigeria has not been spared this massive socio-economic disruptions. Insecurity of all shades also compounded the peculiar challenges of Nigerians.
“In spite of these inclement conditions, Nigerians have been resilient just as the Federal Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari has striven valiantly to confront these challenges, and we have seen his remarkable effort to rebuild the decrepit and grossly inadequate infrastructure in the country.
“As we usher in a new year, Diamond Group Nigeria (DGN) advises the Federal Government to concentrate on, among others priorities, the following:
• Revamping the economy through a more nuanced and integrated approach that should include
– fidelity to the year 2022 budget implementation including the full implementation of the capital component of the year 2021 budget
-targeting single digit inflation and interest rates to boost economic activities
• Reducing the bizzare appetite for loans
• tackling insecurity and unemployment through a multipronged approach
• sincere electoral reforms that will place actual sovereignty in the hands of the people
• And importantly, the government should desist from anti-people policies such as the proposed removal of subsidy in the first quarter of 2022, an ill-timed policy that will undoubtedly further impoverish the people at this material time, and so on.
“Diamond Group Nigeria prays that this year 2022 will usher in a new vista of hope, recovery, prosperity, and greatness for the citizens and the country as a whole.”
