The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos says today’s elective congress of the party will be free from rancour which had been it’s lot after the defection of it’s substantive chairman, Moshood Salvador, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to a statement by the outgoing Lagos PDP Publicity Secretary, Gani Taofiq, says the congress is to elect 14 members of the State Working Committee.
, “The elected officers shall serve in their capacities for 4 years. Most of them have been lobbying for votes. It should be a family affairs,” the statement reads.
According to the statement, the vacant offices all have more than two contenders.
“We have no doubt that at the end the best persons for the offices will emerge and hopefully the party will also come out stronger.
” The Election Committee from Abuja will make public the eventual modalities for the process.,” the PDP spokesman said.
Earlier, the Ward and Local Government Congresses in the state held in preparation of the state congress.
Lagos joins eight other states for the staggered Congresses holding across the federation as a result of different reasons which delayed the processes.
The completion of the states Congresses will also make set the delegates for the PDP National Convention slated for end of October
