The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club, El-kanemi Warriors, is set to return to its original home ground in Maiduguri this weekend.
The Northern based club has played the last two seasons in the NPFL outside the state due to some domestic security challenges.
Top official of the club has confirmed to our correspondent that the team was due to return home, schedule to host Shooting Stars in Maiduguri on Sunday in the NPFL match day 11 game.
“Few weeks ago, we wrote to the League Management Company (LMC) that the state and environment are safe to play football. They made some enquiries and they have approved our return to Maiduguri,” the official informed.
“We will host Shooting Stars this weekend on our home ground and the fans are excited. They have missed league football and we appreciate them.”
El-kanemi lost 0-1 to Rivers United in the NPFL match day 10 fixture on Wednesday. They are placed 16th on the log with 10 points, just one point away from the drop zone.
