Angry youths attacked the country home of Sokoto State’s commissioner for security and career service, Garba Moyi, burning it to the ground.
The commissioner’s country home is in Isa local government area of the State.
The rampaging youths also destroyed properties at the residence of the village head of Isa, shattering windscreen of his vehicle and other valuables.
A report by Premium Times says the youths were angry over the absence of the commissioner at a crucial meeting called to discuss the insecurity pervading the community.
The newspaper interviewed an eye witness who recounts what happened.
He said: “Some of them even believe that the commissioner has abandoned his own people. The attacks are becoming rampant these days, despite the efforts they said they are making to address it. There is no day that a person is not kidnapped or killed in Isa or Sabon Birni.
“They went to the residence of the commissioner and set it on fire before proceeding to the residence of the district head and smashed the windscreens of his vehicles.
“They smashed some vehicle at the palace of the district head but no one was wounded.”
