A priest of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Rev. Emeka Merenu, has been murdered in cold blood by unknown gunmen.
The clergy was killed in his parsonage at Ihiteukwa, in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State, in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to a news report monitored on Channels TV, the unfortunate incident has been confirmed by the member representing Nkwere State constituency, Obinna Okwara.
Okwara said Rev Merenu was killed because of an unfounded allegation that he brought in military men to secure his church and a secondary school under his supervision.
The lawmaker added that the gunmen also set the vehicle of the slain Priest ablaze.
Rev Emeka Merenu hailed from Amorji Agbomori Village in Nkwerre.
All efforts to reach the police spokesperson in the state, Michael Abattam for confirmation proved abortive as he did not take or return call.
