Arsenal legend, Ian Wright, praises Tomiyasu on debut for Gunners

Former Arsenal striker and legend Ian Wright, has commended the performance of the club’s new acquisition, Takehiro Tomiyasu, in his debut at the Emirate Stadium against Norwich City, yesterday.

The highly revered former striker who is the second highest goal scorer in the history of the club, said this while commenting on Match of the Day on BBC, yesterday. According to him, Tomiyasu, a Japanese, played well on his debut against Norwich City.

The BBC Match of the Day pundit went further to say he believed that Tomiyasu, who played at right-back, had a fantastic game. He also praised Arsenal captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who scored the only goal of the game.

“I thought he (Tomiyasu) had a fantastic debut. I thought Aubameyang looked sharp.” he said.

The Japanese, was making his debut for Gunners after joining Arsenal from Bologna, an Italian Seria A club, in the 2021 summer transfer window.

The athletic 22-year-old defender who played as a centre-back while on international duty for his country, Japan, demonstrated his versatility when he played for the Gunners at the right-back position.

The debutant, Tomiyasu, looked threatening when bursting forward to join the attack and showed his pace and defensive qualities when called upon to defend his goal by the opposition.

Overall, he had a successful debut with 69% pass accuracy and seven headers. English Premier League (EPL) lovers and Arsenal supporters alike , will be waiting to see him light up EPL, as season progresses.

Arsenal, consequently got it’s first league win, after losing the first three games, and Thus has moved the club up to the 16th position on the log table, thanks to the contributions of the like of the new boy, and the captain, Aubameyang, who scored the first Arsenal goal in the league this season.
