Veteran Nollywood actor, Victor Olaotan, dies at 69

Nigerians and the entertainment world have once again been thrown into mourning with the passing away of popular actor, Victor Olaotan, who died on Thursday.

He was aged 69.

The news of the death of the veteran actor, who was a lead character in the popular Soap Opera, Tinsel, was broken to the media by the wife, Julia Olaotan, who said she was grateful her husband finally found rest after enduring a lot of pains.

Nigerians will remember that he was involved in an accident on his way to a movie set in 2016 and has since been in and out of hospitals within and outside the country.

His medical bill in a Turkish hospital was reported to have been paid at some point by the business mongul, Femi Otedola, and was reported to be showing signs of improvement before his death.

He began his acting career with the University of Ibadan Theater Group together with prominent Nigerians such as Professor Wole Soyinka and Jimi Sholanke.

Thereafter, he left the country for the United States in 1978 and returned in 2002 to continue his acting career.

He will surely be missed by his colleagues, family and definitely, his fans, who are now accustomed to his brilliant performances on their TV sets.
