I abandoned my hairdressing business to enable me train, says paralympic gold medalist, Tijani Latifat

Nigeria’s first gold medalist at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics games, Tijani Latifat, has revealed that she had to close down her hairdressing Salon shop to enable her to concentrate on training to win at the Tokyo Paralympics.

TheNiche learnt that Tijani, a mother of two who spoke with Journalists in Tokyo after winning the gold further revealed that “I had to close down my hairdressing shop because it was a distraction”. “It was not an easy decision, but I had to do it”.

“It was also not easy trying to take care of the two kids, but I thank God I achieved this goal after the sacrifice”.

Latifat who was in a celebratory mood while speaking also said she was going to eat now and relax as she has not been eating everything she desired prior to winning the gold.

She also spoke convincingly that the eight remaining para-power lifters who are yet to take part will do Nigeria proud.

Latifat was also quick to narrate the battle for gold that ensued between she and Cue Zhe of China whom she defeated to win gold.

“It was like war” she started. “Chi Zhe of China was proving tough and we were practically battling to get the gold”.

“Then my coach said to me, you have to win gold and I got inspiration from what he said”.
