Lawan breaks norm, disagrees with Buhari on Twitter ban

-

Senate President Ahmad Lawan has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to reverse the ban on Twitter because Nigeria and Twitter need each other.

Buhari banned Twitter in Nigeria without the backing of any law on June 4.

Lawan, a staunch supporter of Buhari, has become one of the few members of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) to openly disagree with the president on the Twitter ban.

He expressed his disapproval at a briefing in Abuja to mark the second anniversary of the 9th Senate.

He said Nigeria and Twitter need each other. “Our belief is that Nigeria needs Twitter just as Twitter needs Nigeria. Our expectation is that we will be able to resolve this issue. But beyond that, I am optimistic and I believe that all of us would have learnt our lessons. ”
