Again, US wants Nigeria to reverse ban on Twitter

-

For the second time in three days, the US has demanded that President Muhammadu Buhari reverse the ban on  Twitter.

The administrator of the US Agency for International Development (USAID), Samantha Power, in a tweet, argued: “There are nearly 40 million Twitter users in #Nigeria, and the country is home to Africa’s largest tech hub.

“This suspension is nothing more than state-sanctioned denial of free speech and should be reversed immediately. #KeepItOn.”

The US had weighed on Nigeria last Monday through other diplomats of EU and  UK to change it’s position on Twitter ban.

Nigeria says Twitter would have to meet certain conditions  before it could be allowed to continue.

Already, former US President, Donald Trump, has praised Buhari for banning Twitter.
