Uncertainty and fear pervaded in Oshodi  Lagos as its residents, traders and passengers were stranded and afraid due to heavy presence of soldiers in major places within the area on Thursday.

According to reports,  military personnel stormed the area on Thursday morning to avenge the death of an officer of the Nigerian Air Force, who was allegedly mobbed to death by hoodlums.

Many vehicles, particularly commercial buses have been destroyed, while some persons were assaulted by the aggrieved military personnel.

Some residents heading to work were trapped in the ensuing violence while students  fled back to their homes.

Traders cleaning up their business environment on Thursday, a day of the weekly sanitation also fled  while some transporters abandoned their vehicles for fear of being beaten.

Soldiers targeting hoodlums are currently marching across the streets.

The situation has worsened the traffic situation in the cosmopolitan city as there is currently no movement in and out of the part of Oshodi where the rampaging soldiers are operating.

Oshodi, a major city in Lagos,  links other major parts of Lagos and a major bus terminal is in that part of the state.
