No fewer than 60 armed bandits on Wednesday struck at a military camp in Zazzaga community in Munya Local Government Area of Niger State.

The attack came barely three weeks after a similar one on a Security Joint Task Force base in Allawa and Basa in Shiroro Local Government Area where five soldiers and a Mobile Policeman were killed.

The bandits, it was gathered, carried out the latest attack around 4am.

Sources said that the bandits, who attacked the Zagzaga community, splint themselves into three groups.

One group, it was gathered, went to the Military Camp located at the Junior Secondary School, while the second group laid ambush on the major road to the community.

The third group was said to have gone into the community to prevent any reinforcements from the vigilantes and youths.

They were said to have engaged the soldiers in a gun battle for about two hours, which led to injuries on the part of the attackers.

No soldier was reported killed in the attack; but one identified as the RSM of the camp had been declared missing.
