The General Manager (GM), Niger State Broadcasting Corporation (Radio Niger), Alhaji Ibrahim Kabir Ibrahim, has assured Igbo community of the station’s preparedness to partner with it in the promotion of Igbo interests.
Kabi,r who gave the assurance when he received the Igbo Community Association (ICA) led by its President, Dr. Valentine Oparaocha, however added that such partnership in promoting Igbo interests including their tradition, culture and businesses is not without conditions.
The general manager said that the radio station, including ‘Search FM’ and indeed the entire Niger State was not unaware of contributions the Igbo people living and doing businesses in parts of the state in adding value to the socio-economic development of the state.
Such contributions, according to the general manager is visible and cannot be underestimated that Igbo population across the 25 Local Government Areas contributes not less than 40 percent to Niger state economy.
The general manager, who described the Igbo as a force to reckon with as they have the dexterity to survive against the odds, having the tendency to traveling far and wide across the globe, assured Igbo Community in Niger state that his doors were open for their attention.
While expressing appreciation to the ICA for finding time and declaring willingness to partner Radio Niger on areas of interests, the general manager encouraged them to take advantage of numerous business programmes promoting socio-cultural interests to further cement the bond of friendship between the Igbo and their host, Niger state.
President of Igbo Community Association in Niger state, Dr. Valentine Oparaocha, had earier told the GM and his management team that they were at the Radio station to explore opportunities to improve on the existing relationship between the two.
Oparaocha, who led other executive members of the ICA, Minna on the visit, solicited the support of the management of Radio Niger in the promotion of Igbo tradition, culture and as well their business concerns.
